Description:

Morocco’s west coast is a true mecca for surfers. Travelling along the coast, you encounter entire communities of surf vans parked in small fishing villages or directly above cliffs in the middle of the desert. For us, surfing offered a way to rediscover the childhood joy of being in the water, when we could spend whole days simply jumping into waves that broke over our heads. The artwork was inspired by the rug-making style of the Azilal region.

This style comes from central Morocco, specifically Azilal Province. It is characterised by geometric and asymmetrical shapes, zigzags, diamonds and symbols, often arranged in irregular, almost chaotic compositions. The colours are exceptionally vivid, and the dyes used to create them come from fruit and vegetables.
